The Farm continues to find ways to improve and work on making Indianapolis a greener place.
Bees

In May 2011 we installed a beepod, a Top Bar beehive. Some 10,000 honey bees pollinate the farm, reinforcing the importance of pollinators to our food system and raising awareness about colony collapse. Every once in a while we yield a small amount of delicious honey!
Energy
We’re monitoring our small farm’s energy efficiency, specifically examining labor, gas and water use, as well as harvest yield to compare our efficiency with that of large scale farms. As the need for local food sources grows, small-scale agriculture is cropping up all over the country and we need to be aware of the implications.
